Remote Working Policy
Thesis SM is a remote-first organisation. This policy sets out our guidelines and expectations for employees working remotely, ensuring productivity, security, and connection to our wider team while supporting a healthy work-life balance.
This policy covers all employees, officers, consultants, contractors, volunteers, interns, casual workers, and agency workers.
All employees are expected to work from home or another suitable location where they can maintain productivity, security, and effective communication at all times.
Employees work agreed hours and are available during core business hours where applicable. Flexibility is encouraged, though any changes to working patterns are communicated and approved in advance.
Performance at Thesis SM is measured by output and outcomes, not hours worked. Employees are expected to meet all goals, deadlines, and deliverables, managing their time effectively to ensure responsibilities are completed as scheduled.
Employees follow strict data security protocols, using secure internet connections and company-approved devices at all times. Confidential and sensitive information must not be accessible to unauthorised individuals, including those in an employee's household.
Communication & Collaboration
Thesis SM uses Microsoft Teams as its primary communication tool. Employees are expected to have cameras on during meetings wherever possible, and to keep distractions, including background noise, music, and television, to a minimum.
Regular one-to-one meetings between employees and managers are scheduled weekly or fortnightly, with virtual team meetings held as needed to maintain alignment across the business.
Workspace & Equipment
Thesis SM provides employees with the equipment they need to work effectively, including a laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Employees are responsible for maintaining a dedicated, ergonomically sound workspace. A monthly working from home allowance is provided to contribute towards home internet and utility costs.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Employees are responsible for ensuring their home workspace is safe and ergonomically suitable. Any work-related injuries must be reported to the Head of People & Culture promptly.
Thesis SM encourages a healthy work-life balance. Employees are encouraged to take regular breaks, avoid overworking, and fully disconnect outside of working hours. All time off policies apply equally to remote employees.
Standards of Conduct
The same standards of conduct expected in a traditional office environment apply when working remotely. The use of alcohol or recreational drugs during working hours is strictly prohibited. Smoking or vaping is not acceptable during meetings. Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
